IMCC Dubai

Jared Mensah, Director of Greenway Associates and our cultural industries expert, recently attended the International Museum Construction Congress (IMCC) in Dubai in March earlier this year.

One of the highlights was a presentation and behind-the-scenes tour of the newly opened Museum of the Future, located in the financial district of Dubai. The Museum of the Future is an exhibition space for innovative and futuristic ideas. It promotes technological innovation, especially in the fields of robotics and AI. The presentation by Lāth Carlson - Executive Director of the museum, Brendan McGetrick - Creative Director of the museum, and Shirin Bruckner from architects Atelier Bruckner gave comprehensive insight into the project that was active throughout the COVID period. We were thoroughly impressed by how well the architects and exhibition designers were able to collaborate (mostly virtually), and the close coordination between all disciplines.

Jared took this photo of the Museum of the Future, from the rooftop bar with the delegates.

Another highlight was a presentation by Dr. Karen Exell, a representative of the Diriyah Gate Development Authority (DGDA). Dr Karen spoke to industry leaders about key projects in Diriyah, At-Turaif and "the importance of architecture in developing the cultural vision and driving the development of cultural assets in Diriyah."

Greenway Associates are proud to have have been working on some of the projects within the DGDA masterplan, alongside lead consultant DesignPM. We are providing cost management services for the design and delivery of the cultural assets involved in this $20bn cultural and lifestyle development. We really enjoy working in the ME region, an area that is highly ambitious and always evolving.

If you're wondering what the future of Diriyah looks like, take a look at this snapshot created by our friends at DGDA.
