OUR ROLE

Greenway Associates are delighted to be the appointed Cost Consultant, Procurement Manager & Principal Designer for the exhibition works for the Showtown Museum in Blackpool.

The £13m project is due to open in 2024.

Our involvement with this project goes back about 7 years when we put together a cost and procurement proposal for the original intended site.

We led the team in its liaison with funders and other key stakeholders. After several analysis and reviews, the current site in the Sands Building on the Promenade was selected.

Jared Mensah, our museums expert, leads our  team on this project.

THE PROJECT

Showtown is one of the Blackpool council’s major capital projects. It is funded in part through the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Set right in the middle of Blackpool on the promenade, this new attraction aims to capture the spirit of this amazing town.

It will feature the first permanent displays in a UK public museum on circus, magic, variety, and ballroom dance - filled with 800+ objects from Blackpool’s internationally significant and extensive collections and those on loan from our national partners, including the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Exhibits will tell the stories of comedians, acrobats, dancers, visitors and entertainers, all of whom have made Blackpool into the vacation destination it is today.
